GAMEPLAY: PERMUTATIONS: THE RULES OF LARP: CHARACTER DEATH
Character death happens. Often this is a rather sudden, unpleasant event. Should a player handle the scenes and subsequent fall out with grace and poise, staff will return 1/3 of your earned XP from the character sheet back to your XP bank.
XP banks follow the player, not the character. Unspent XP will always follow you.
Should a character become stagnant or unfun to play, a variety of options are opened to you. You can play a temporary character (under the charter you are allowed a certain number of games as a different character). You can put your character on hiatus and physically take a break from game as long as you wish. Or you can voluntarily retire your pc and receive 1/3 of your spent xp returned to your bank.
Please note, the world doesn't stop affecting your character during periods of breaks, hiatus or Npc-ship. Staff reserves the right to represent your character however we feel appropriate during these periods of NPC-ship. Other characters may still be able to take action against your character (such as stripping Status, Domain or stalking and killing them in their bed).
Character death and bead draws:
You can only have one character draw per 3 months. If your character perishes prior, you may make a new character with a common, common, common draw until that time passes.
Character Death/Retirement & Interactions:
If a player's character dies, is torpored for more than a month without being revived or the player would simply like to permanently stop playing one character and transition to another, players of retired characters must run all former PC interactions through the storytellers. In the case of characters that are permanently retired 'into the world' while staff might choose to tap the initial player to provide a voice for a particular interaction with remaining PC's, but please don't assume this. When a PC is permanently retired, whether play is simply stopped in exchange for a new PC, or even in Final Death that character becomes the staff's NPC.

Any notes, wills or letters the character might send just prior to permanent retirement need to go through the the STs to distribute. Notes or letters written by 'dead' or 'retired' former PC's that are not first given to the STs are invalid without review.
Character Death/Retirement & Items:
The end of a character often includes the former PC's items, retainers and haven(s). Playing a new character at ECC requires the previous character's items be turned into the staff first. All item cards (weapons, armor, vehicles, etc.) must be given to the ST adjudicating the scene of the PC's demise in order to be approved to play a new character. Alternately, the cards may be turned into the paper table ST. Players who wish to 'search the body' can have a ST run that scene after the combat or story resolution is concluded.

On PC Death or Retirement, all item cards must be given to the STs, including weapons, armor, vehicles and any cards for retainers, allies, etc.
-
Former PC's Items not distributed via the STs are invalid without review. (Special use reward cards are exempt from this, as they follow the player, not the character).
